Chemical properties: dark green powder or metallic gloss particles. It has hygroscopicity. It is soluble in water, ethanol, concentrated sulfuric acid, dark orange, dark green after dilution, orange in concentrated hydrochloric acid or nitric acid, and bright blue in 10% sodium hydroxide solution.

Purpose: Staining of plant histology and cytology.
