Chemical properties: white solids or crystals. Streptomyces, glycopeptide antibiotics. Sensitive to light and moisture. Soluble in water (100mg/ml), slightly soluble in dilute methanol, insoluble in higher alcohols, acetone and ether. Low concentration of urine in neutral aqueous solution can increase its solubility. Ammonium sulfate and sodium chloride can precipitate antibiotics from acidic solutions.

Purpose: Biochemical studies, bond strength studies in vancomycin-peptide complexes. Plant cell culture test. Medical antibiotics.
