Chemical Properties: Light yellow powder. Commodities generally contain catalase, with 2 moles of flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) per mole of enzyme protein. Commodities also have solutions. Soluble in aqueous yellow-green solution, insoluble in ether, chloroform, butanol, pyridine, glycerol, ethylene glycol, di-NFDA6, 1,3-propanediol and methylamine. It can be precipitated by 50% acetone or 66% methanol. Isoelectric point pI 4.2-4.3. Specific optical rotation [alpha] 20D-4.8 degrees (c=0.012, water). The maximum absorption wavelength is 377 and 455 nm.
